Operating systems are an essential part of every computer system.
Their deployment ranges from small-scale embedded systems to networks of world-wide
connected computers. Within this broad spectrum, a multitude of different and frequently
contradictory requirements on operating systems' properties in terms of functional and
non-functional characteristics arise. To meet these challenges, our work focuses both on
 | education in current state-of-the-art principles and solutions
|
| research in the areas of operating systems and distributed systems
|
in order to cope with problems currently solved unsatisfactorily or incompletely.
